A View Inspires Thoughts—
A Perspective on our US Airline Brands

My $14.00 double has emptied, and I now have nothing left but the plastic tray supporting my notebook, and the close proximity of eight guys, emphasized by the odor of day-old clothes hanging in the air. If I was traveling in Europe, I’m sure there would also be the complicated aroma of heady after shave lotions and cigarettes. But this is a pretty common occurrence for many of us—right? Especially on a delayed 4:11 p.m. flight from Charlotte to LGA.

However, as I sit here, with just a slight twist and dip of my neck, I do see out of my oval window a beautiful sunset disappearing into a deep orange glow on the slow arc of the earth. There’s a sneeze here, a cough there. A couple of muffled conversations, closed eyes, busy fingers on laptops—yes, I am one of them. But the vision on the horizon is inspiring.
