Creative Director of Product
As Creative Director, you are responsible for translating strategic goals from senior leadership into actionable direction for the design staff. You establish the stylistic and creative direction for a variety of projects from concept to completion. You work closely with Project Managers to plan and orchestrate design projects. You collaborate with other designers, engineers, creative directors, project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to develop products and solutions that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional and profitable. You serve as supervisor, mentor, and coach to the design staff, helping to promote and teach the strategy, processes, and practices established by business and creative leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leadership to establish, document, refine, and teach our creative processes
- Establish and manage the creative direction for multiple concurrent design programs
- Manage, supervise, and mentor staff-level product design staff
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Senior Designers to define and communicate the project plan
- Work with Project Managers to ensure the timely and successful delivery of creative deliverables
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal staff, strategic partners, and clients
- Contribute to research planning, analysis, and development of strategic recommendations for our clients
- Lead or contribute to multiple design projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Participate in the development and presentation of creative and strategic presentations
- Collaborate with leadership and project management to identify and grow opportunities within an account
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to staff, fostering a culture of creativity and collaboration
- Full-time role with minimum 3 days / week on-site
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Industrial Design or a related field
- Proven track record of creative direction for design programs
- Deep understanding of product design principles, including aesthetics, ergonomics, and functionality
- Proven ability to communicate, present, and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-level
- Exceptional collaboration skills
- Ability to mentor and guide staff designers
- Resilient, flexible, positive attitude
- Proven ability to juggle multiple creative assignments and projects at a time while maintaining sharp attention to detail
- Motivated to learn, build skills, and grow responsibility
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and 3D modeling software, such as SolidWorks or Rhino3D
