Senior Graphic Designer

Join BOLTGROUP, a design innovation firm looking for a senior graphic designer to help create transformative brand and product experiences through Design Innovation. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in the areas of: brand development, graphic design, communications, environmental design, interactive and video, print and web.

At BOLTGROUP, a Senior Graphic Designer is the creative catalyst of projects. They are  responsible for understanding, assimilating, and interpreting strategic goals and direction from senior leadership into actionable design solutions, helping to establish the graphic direction for any given assignment—from concept through high quality production-ready files, for a given project, working as a team member and leader from inception to completion. Senior Graphic Designers typically engage in a good deal of conceptual development work, but understand the entire process, and can lead a small project team. The role ensures the proper coordination with the creative director, project management, senior staff, and other designers on the team, communication with team members, contractors, vendors, and suppliers, so that the work produced is visually compelling and reflects the strategic intention and business goals of the program / project.

A Senior Graphic Designer must be on a path to having the ability to see the entire board and understand goals of individual projects. This should apply not only to the creative process, but also to other areas of the project. Because the Senior Graphic Designer contributes heavily to creative excellence and execution from the start, they should be able to effectively help guide a project’s creative to reflect the strategic goals of the project. Although a Senior Graphic Designer can be involved in strategy development, they are usually not called on to lead. Instead, they work with the strategy team and principals on requirements to fulfill the initial strategic work per the scope of work. They will begin to play a major role as the creative team takes over responsibility for the project, through completion.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a creative leader within the creative team
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting internal relationships with team members and external relationships with vendors, suppliers.
  • Understand and lead projects through from concept to production
  • Develop trusted creative resource relationship with strategic, creative, production, project, and account team leaders
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of creative assignments according to direction and strategy, ready for delivery
  • Clearly communicate justification for creative solutions and offer constructive criticism as a team member, as they relate to establish project goals and strategy
  • Participate with development of and presentation of creative presentations

Here’s What’s Required:

  • Proven work experience as a mid-level designer
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate, justify work, and influence key stakeholders at all levels of a project team
  • Solid experience with Adobe Creative Cloud products (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.), and other creative software. HTML and interactive media experience is a plus.
  • Experience delivering client-focused solutions to meet customer needs and strategy
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple creative assignments at a time, while maintaining sharp attention to detail
  • Resilient, flexible, positive attitude
  • Excellent listening abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Here’s What Else You’ll Need to Bring to the Party:

  • Bachelor or higher degree in graphic design or closely related / allied field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of graphic design experience
  • Strong references from prior employer(s) and customers
